There’s a Whiskies of the World tasting happening twice each day (1:30p/3:30p)! We’re super excited because folks will get to taste all of the goodies like Monkey Shoulder, Macallan and Grant’s!

And on the 5th day…

Vivace gave to me…one hell of a cocktail.

Tonight, I got to spend some time at The Art of the Modern Cocktail party hosted by Liberate Your Palate Charlotte, anyway, we got to try cocktails from Passion 8, Bistro La Bon and Vivace! I got to try so many different cocktails, but if I had to pick just one to feature on BoozinQC, it would be the St. Mirtillo. It was tart, had tons of depth and it was awfully pretty.  Recipe is below along with a photo.

St. Mirtillo

Hendrick’s Gin

St. Germain

Cranberry Juice

Sour Mix

Just for fun, check out the entire menu from tonight, drinks were seriously special!

On the 2nd Day of Cocktails…

…My true love gave to me some Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky.

Frances Jones from Davidson Street Public House recognized our need for a scotch cocktail, and so a scotch cocktail we shall have. The Monkey blends so well with the orange and honey while the Lagavulin floater adds depth to the cocktail

I have faith…I do.

No Faith In Medicine

Monkey Shoulder

Honey Syrup

Lemon Juice

Lagavulin floater

National Scotch Day

I know what you’re thinking, you just celebrated National Tequila Day and you’re a little pickled from imbibing a bit too much, well, Dr. Boozin QC is here and I feel that the only remedy for your ailments is to partake in a dram of ultra amazing scotch with me!

In honor of this most appropriate holiday, I have picked my 3 favorite Scotch Whiskies to share with you, read on below to see why they’re my favorite.

Monkey Shoulder

New to the party, Monkey Shoulder is a triple malt – a blend of 3 Speyside Single Malt Whiskies and it’s really approachable, It’s sweeter with a bit of heat on the finish, lots of vanilla and zero peat. Perfect for those ready to venture into Scotch for the first time.

The Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask

Finished in second fill rum barrels, The Balvenie 14 has a wonderful vanilla and toffee flavor that you would expect from the rum. The finish is smooth and light, for me this is a whisky meant to be enjoyed after dinner and with a dessert.

Glenfiddich 15 year

The oldest of the Single Malts mentioned here, you’ll find a slightly sweet and rich flavor. Matured in three different types of oak and then married together in a Solera Vat, this whisky delivers notes of pear, dried fruit and a hint of spice. I’m a fan!

Tiki Night @ Cucina 24

Asheville friends, did you know that Cucina 24 throws a Tiki Party? No? Well you do now..  Details are below.

Saturday April 18th, 11:00-2:00 a.m.
$5 at the door
Food spread by Brian Cannipelli
Music by the Ouroboros Boys

The ever amazing tiki-ologist (I don’t think that’s a word but I can’t think of a better way to describe Donnie Pratt). Donnie is known around Asheville for his delectable cocktails, he’s also one of the few who does Tiki very well.  I got a preview of the cocktails he’ll be serving and they’re remarkable. He’ll be using rums like Appleton, Flor De Cana, and Sailor Jerry. He’ll also be making a concoction with Monkey Shoulder.  Who knew you could have a Scotch Tiki drink?

Check out the photos above an below. Then go see what all the fuss is about on the 18th. I can’t make it, so go imbibe a little for me.
