I just spent the last 3 hours with a table full of women, wrapping wreaths, painting sparrows and drinking Sailor Jerry and it was fantastic!
We teamed up with the super sweet and super creative Stephanie from Crowned Sparrow Company to make Sailor Jerry inspired wreaths and jewelry. Our beautiful attendees got to be creative with colors and paints and everyone made something really unique! I’m super proud of how the event turned out and can’t wait to do it again (be on the look out for one in June- hint hint).
Check out a couple of the photos below to see the amazing time we had. HUGE thanks to Heist Brewery for hosting us and letting us throw felt everywhere!
Guys, I’ve been MIA lately and I apologize a bit for that but for good reason…I’ve been drinking. Oops.
Anyway, Charlotte has been really stinkin’ busy with all kinds of events and on Monday, the Queen City hosted Pins & Pinups with Playboy and Sailor Jerry.
12 teams competed to win a trip to Pensacola for a chance to whip up on other cities for the title of Best Bar Bowling Team in the U.S. (I don’t really know if that’s the actual title, but you get the idea).
Congrats to Tilt On Trade for winning 2nd year in a row!!! That beast of a team bowled a whopping 573 all while pounding their share of Sailor Jerry pickleback shots!!
Thanks to Playboy and Sailor Jerry for showing the QC some love, check out the pictures of the shenanigans HERE!!
2014 has been such a great year for us, not just for me and boozinQC but also for the Queen City. We’ve had some pretty great cocktails come out of some of our favorite bars this year and I want to take a moment to highlight my favorites.
The Stow Away
Made by Stefan from Heist Brewery, this Sailor Jerry Tiki cocktail is sweet, fruity and perfect for warmer weather.
Sailor Jerry Rum
The Scotchie Pippen
This cocktail has been etched into my memory since the day I had it. Created by Andy Maurer at Soul for a tasting event with Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador, David Allaridice. It’s not readily available now but I’m sure the fellas at Soul could make a great substitute.
Pure Intentions Cold Brew
Glenfiddich infused whipped cream garnish
Roasted Jalapeno Margarita
While margaritas aren’t normally my go-to cocktail, my friend Krissie adores them. When we tried this gem from 1900 Mexican Grill, we were both surprised by how refreshing it was.
The Root Daiquiri
You wont find this in Charlotte, but it’s close. Sovereign Remedies in Asheville is home to this incredible drink. With fresh ingredients, it is damn tasty.
These past few weeks have been full of exciting new events in Charlotte (and Asheville), and I have been lucky enough to witness all of them. One of my absolute favorite events though has to be the Hendrick’s Gin Cocktail Academy. We brought in brand Ambassador Kris Von Dopek and set out to teach people about Hendrick’s and we did just that. On Monday we visited Asheville, where Kris was able to meet some really great bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts alike. We took over Cucina 24 on Wall Street and got our learn on with some pretty fantastic people. We ended our night at Sovereign Remedies…seriously if you’re ever in Asheville…you MUST visit this unique spot on Market St. Anywho, we had several fantastic Hendrick’s Gin cocktails paired with some really remarkable food. We even had Philipe, who was the most precious tap-dancing door guy I’ve ever seen. All in all, Asheville was a huge success. Pictures from our event at Sovereign Remedies will be up soon, I’ll be sure to update you guys as soon as I have them posted.
Moving on to Tuesday, Kris and crew headed back down the mountain to Charlotte where we had not 1, but 2 Cocktail Academies at Dandelion Market. Hendricks took over the upstairs and we created a boozy classroom for Kris to teach everyone about our most peculiar gin. Our second class was so full, some had to stand. Word has it that Charlotte had the largest attendance in the country. Kudos to the Queen City, I love to see everyone get excited about making cocktails. Below is the link to the pictures, feel free to browse and see what our academy was all about. Huge thanks to Richard at Good Eats and Meets for taking photos!!
Thanks to Kris and Regina for visiting us down here in NC, we hope you guys come back very soon!!!
