Get to know Bob Peters

If you live in Charlotte, chances are you’ve met Bob Peters at Pisces Sushi. This dude can make one hell of a cocktail and the locals know it.

Charlotte’s cocktail culture has expanded ten fold and Bob, a native of Charlotte has been instrumental making that happen. He is a mad scientist and a genius at infusing spirits to make one-of-a-kind cocktails.

We’re super proud of Bob as he’ll be taking a position with The Punch Room at the Ritz Carlton, we can’t wait to stop in for one of Bob’s famous concoctions.

Check out the video below to get to know Mr. Peters!!

Public House opens in NoDa

Hey guys, I know you’ve been anxiously watching the construction going on inside the old Miyagi’s space on North Davidson Street to find out what would take it’s place. The wait is over, the new bar is called Davidson Street Public House and it officially opened it’s doors to excited customers on Thursday Night.

I have to say, even though I’m a bit biased, I really love the space and the food.  The menu is full of tasty treats including the PBLT- a pork belly BLT and the Sailor Jerry Bread Pudding.

Like any other gastropub, there is plenty of local and not so local craft beer to sip on. The cocktail menu isn’t out yet but I’m told it will be filled with a few classics and a few original craft cocktails, which we can’t wait to try.

Public House is open everyday.  Stop by and tell them BoozinQC sent you.

Overboard 2: The Recap

I said this last year but I’m saying it again, Overboard is the best party of the year.  Hands down.

The Permanent Vacation dudes know how to throw a party, complete with a photo booth, a beach ball drop and Sailor Jerry Pina Coladas in Pineapples, it was hands down the best way to ring in 2015.

Thanks to Neighborhood Theatre, Permanent Vacation and Natty Boh for letting me and Sailor Jerry be a part of the fun.

Here is the link for the whole album.  Huge thanks to Brian BT Twitty for capturing all the fun!!

A Sailor Jerry Birthday

It’s a known fact that I get really excited about throwing parties, so it goes without saying that I am ridiculously stoked for this one!!

Here’s the Deal: January 14th, 2015 we’ll be throwing Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins one hell of a birthday party and in true SJ fashion, those in attendance will get a chance to win some FREE SJ flash from Charlotte Tattoo Company.

All you have to do is show up at Snug Harbor with a $5 Donation to our local Wounded Warrior chapter and you’ll be entered to win the tattoo. If you win, you get the tattoo THAT NIGHT at the shop around the corner. How cool is that?!

If you don’t win the tattoo, don’t fret. Charlotte Tattoo company is offering Sailor Jerry flash tattoos all day for $50!!

We’ll have $5 Sailor Jerry and Natty Boh drink specials and a our good friend, J. Overcash will be playing tunes. Party starts at 6 and goes until 9. Get there early to get your chance to win.

2014: A recap in cocktails

2014 has been such a great year for us, not just for me and boozinQC but also for the Queen City.  We’ve had some pretty great cocktails come out of some of our favorite bars this year and I want to take a moment to highlight my favorites.

The Stow Away

Made by Stefan from Heist Brewery, this Sailor Jerry Tiki cocktail is sweet, fruity and perfect for warmer weather.

Sailor Jerry Rum

Strawberry Puree

Pineapple Juice

The Scotchie Pippen

This cocktail has been etched into my memory since the day I had it.  Created by Andy Maurer at Soul for a tasting event with Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador, David Allaridice.  It’s not readily available now but I’m sure the fellas at Soul could make a great substitute.

Glenfiddich 12yr

Pure Intentions Cold Brew

Orange Bitters

Glenfiddich infused whipped cream garnish

Roasted Jalapeno Margarita

While margaritas aren’t normally my go-to cocktail, my friend Krissie adores them.  When we tried this gem from 1900 Mexican Grill, we were both surprised by how refreshing it was.

Espolon tequila

Watermelon Puree

Roasted Jalapenos

Fresh Lime

The Root Daiquiri

You wont find this in Charlotte, but it’s close.  Sovereign Remedies in Asheville is home to this incredible drink.  With fresh ingredients, it is damn tasty.

Flor De Cana rum
